Your role:

The Associate Quality Control Chemist, Sr. at MilliporeSigma will independently perform routine assignments using established procedures and practices that require knowledge of concepts or specialized technical expertise.

  • Solve problems by identifying and selecting solutions and analyzing information
  • Conduct chemical suitability tests in accordance with guidelines of the quality management system (ISO 9001:2015)
  • Assist with reagent and chemical management in the laboratory
  • Operate analytical software such as DSC, IR, ICP-MS, HPLC and more
  • Run performance verifications and calibrations in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Input accurate data into process management software (ERP software)
  • Compare data against established library(s) and product specification(s)
  • Perform intermediate analytical troubleshooting with guidance
  • Safely handle, process, route and request stock suitability samples
  • Document and process data used in evaluating stock suitability
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance, restock laboratory supplies, and practice proper waste disposal in accordance with existing guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work environment
  • Identify opportunities for quality improvement in compliance with Quality Management System
  • Write and submit quality deviation record(s) for management review
  • Assist in the 3-year procedure review program: Create, update, and correct department SOPs
  • Participate in process and quality improvement project(s) with management to ensure customer focused excellence
  • Complete routine procedure and policy trainings through a Learning Management System
  • Train new hires on relevant SOPs and operations in assigned work area(s)


Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related life science discipline with 2+ years of experience in a laboratory environment


  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent with 6+ years of experience in a laboratory environment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess knowledge in chemistry, math, and general science
  • Ability to function in a team environment
  • Basic understanding of analytical tools and equipment as well as troubleshooting and development
  • Safe chemical handling practice
  • Skilled in computing chemical calculations and conversions
  • Ability to adapt, self-motivate and use critical thinking skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time well, work independently and be task-oriented
  • Ability to make decisions with excellent attention to detail
  • Skilled in systems such as Microsoft Office 360, Power Point, Excel, Word etc.
  • General understanding of Good Documentation Practices
