BioForward is the only Wisconsin organization representing over 200 biohealth member companies including biotech, biopharma, healthcare systems, medical device, diagnostics, digital health, as well as research institutions, and service providers. Established as a 501(c) 6, BioForward has offices in Madison and Milwaukee, and serves a critical role in advocating for Wisconsin’s biohealth industry on both a state and federal level.


Position Description

The Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist plays a critical role as a member of a small yet efficient BioForward team through developing and establishing marketing strategies to help grow Wisconsin’s biohealth industry: An industry that is advancing medical technologies, innovation and life-saving treatments. This position will be responsible for website content management and data analytics, social media strategy execution and analytics, communications, and basic design work for in-house marketing materials supporting events and membership. Additional responsibilities include organizing and promoting programming/educational events.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Website content management and data analytics. Experience with WordPress, Google Analytics
  • Social media strategy execution and analytics. Experience with LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and other leading digital platforms
  • Coordinate all social media, web site, public relations, communications and promotional activities
  • Manage weekly membership communications coordinating newsletter topics and social media calendar
  • Develop and implement digital media plans and projects to increase membership or enhances BioForward initiatives that are supporting our member companies
  • Develop and deliver reports that examine the effectiveness of marketing campaigns
  • Coordinate event details and digital marketing for annual Biohealth Summit, Annual Member Meeting and major programming events
  • Assist in developing BioForward annual report and Summit programming guide. Work with outside firms to create final product
  • Implement BioForward’s social media plan, monitor social media for relevant bioscience news and implement social media communications directed at member company announcements and BioForward programming events
  • Produce follow-up reports analyzing results of each event including budget, media impressions and outreach, and attendance
  • Other duties as assigned



Education and Experience:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, Marketing, Communications, or related degree or equivalent professional qualification
  • Technical marketing and communications experience
  • Third-party e-marketing platforms such as Constant Contact or comparable products
  • Preferred experience with relevant software applications
    • WordPress, Hootsuite, Adobe Suite, Constant Contact

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Frequent local travel and occasional national travel required to programming events and various conferences
  • Must have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license
  • Frequently required to talk and/or hear, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects. Regularly required to stand, walk, and/or sit. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
