Forward BIOLABS, the launchpad for early-stage biotech companies in Madison, is seeking an Operations Manager [reporting to CEO]. You’ll be the best fit for this role if you minimally have a bachelor’s degree in a life science and 2+ years of hands-on laboratory experience. You should be a highly organized, self-directed individual who enjoys a healthy mix of problem-solving and customer-facing interactions. What your day looks like:
Leading and managing a team in all facets of day to day facility operations, such as facility & laboratory equipment maintenance, waste streams, supply purchases, all soft services (mailroom, housekeeping, conference room management, shipping & receiving, etc.), security, IT, safety, strategic facility planning, and compliance.
Serving as the go-to person for startup members for lab and facility related items, ensuring positive experiences during their residence at Forward BIOLABS.
Developing operational policies to assure the safety of workers and quality of lab research.
Implementing systems to eliminate off hours lab issues, and respond to issues as part of on-call duties.
Onboarding (pre-move-in, move in) and off-boarding member companies.
Liaising between the residents, vendors, and our teams - ensuring prompt feedback, action, and a high-level of customer service.
Assisting with strategic planning.
Any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide to Forward BIOLABS’s values
Skills you’ll need to exceed in this role:
Broad life science instrument knowledge, along with an understanding of workflows in a scientific lab environment.
Ability to learn about a variety of lab equipment; maintain and train residents according to best practices.
Excellent communication and customer service skills for building relationships with residents, vendors, and stakeholders to expedite resolutions.
Strong time management, organization, multi-tasking, and decision-making skills.
Easily adapts to change, both strategically and culturally; creative problem solver.
Ability to manage resources to align with overall strategy.
Ability to lead, develop and mentor individuals and teams.
Skilled in Microsoft (Word, powerpoint, excel) and ability to learn software programs for office and lab management
