Description

LGC, Biosearch Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical team player to fulfill the role of Scientist in our Research and Development group in Middleton, WI. The individual will provide technical assistance to the R&D group in the areas of nucleic acid amplification and next generation sequencing. Experience in design and development of quantitative PCR and RT-PCR assays is a plus. The hired individual must have the ability to multi-task while maintaining precise documentation of experiments performed.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Amplification (qPCR, RT-qPCR, isothermal amplification, digital PCR)
- Standard molecular biology techniques (DNA extraction/purification, PCR, cloning)
- Standard microbiology techniques (aseptic technique, inoculation, bacterial growth)
- Experience in protein expression and purification is a plus
- Process and record experimental data and results
- Effectively communicate results to members of R&D
- Collaborate with team members in the development of the product portfolio
- Deliver high-quality product development documentation consistent with LGC, Biosearch Technology’s ISO 13485 quality systems
- Contribute to technical teams by meeting defined project objectives in a manner consistent with Biosearch Technology’s product development process under design control
Qualifications
Education, experience and technical skills
- Bachelor's degree in the biological or life sciences with 3+ years of experience in applicable industry (pharma, biotech)--or applicable education and work experience.
- Ability to become adept at the development and implementation of new technologies and technical processes that improve the quality, efficiency, and/or productivity of products and/or laboratory services
- Lab experience in all or some of the defined focus areas (amplification, molecular biology, protein expression/purification and next generation sequencing)
- Excellent quantitative skills and demonstrated application of complex experimental and statistical methods
