Description

LGC, Biosearch Technologies is seeking a driven and collaborative individual to fulfill the role of R&D Scientist II at our Middleton, WI site. The R&D Scientist II will provide technical expertise and leadership in the focus areas of next generation sequencing and molecular biology for LGC-Lucigen, including development of new products, applications and businesses.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Contributes to technical teams or programs/projects in meeting defined program/project objectives in a manner consistent with LGC-Lucigen’s ISO 13485 quality systems
  • Processes, records, analyzes, and extrapolates from experimental data and results
  • Effectively communicates results to the LGC-Lucigen team
  • Works independently in the development of the LGC-Lucigen product portfolio
  • Identifies and helps define new product ideas or technologies; conducts feasibility, optimization, and verification studies; performs method and product transfer to manufacturing, verification, validation and support of regulatory submissions
  • Modifies both the designs and plans of product, process, or assay development and qualification activities
  • Routinely serves as a subject matter expert within multiple areas of focus
  • Attends meetings, conferences symposia, and seminars to promote LGC-Lucigen capabilities
  • Keeps abreast of scientific/technological developments by participating in scientific meetings/seminars and through regular scientific review
  • May supervise or mentor more junior scientists across a platform
  • Provides technical training for scientific and operational staff
  • Delivers high-quality product development documentation consistent with LGC-Lucigen’s quality systems
  • Conscientiously learns requirements of the ISO 13485 quality management system and diligently follows the terms of a quality contract, which describes the relevance and importance of the employee’s work to the achievement of LGC-Lucigen’s quality objectives
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Experience required

  • Master’s degree in relevant life sciences field with 3 or more years’ industry experience—or applicable educational and industry-specific experience

Other skills and abilities:

  • Proven track record leading technically challenging, cross-functional programs or projects
  • Demonstrated experience with development and implementation of next generation sequencing technologies
  • Strong background in molecular biology techniques, including familiarity with nucleic acid modifying enzymes Effective communication skills with technical staff, peers, and customers
  • Proficiency in management and analysis of large data sets
  • Skilled in performing scientific presentations, makes important intellectual contributions to scientific publications
  • Aptitude to work in a complex and rapidly growing company
  • Results-oriented, ensuring targets are met on time and on budget
  • Must demonstrate good professional judgment and reliability
  • Must be highly accurate and detail-oriented
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
