Your role:

At MilliporeSigma, the Sr. Associate Quality Control Chemist will receive clear instruction, guidance and direction from more senior level roles and / or solve problems of low complexity independently by identifying and selecting solutions and by analyzing information.

  • Performs routine assignments using existing procedures and / or even works autonomously within established procedures and practices that require knowledge of concepts and procedures within a job discipline or specialized technical expertise within an analytical/scientific method or operational process
  • Conduct chemical suitability tests in accordance with guidelines of the quality management system (ISO 9001:2015)
  • Perform routine analytical tests in compliance with standardized methodology
  • Operate analytical equipment and software such as DSC, IR, ICP-MS, HPLC and more
  • Document and process analytical data used in evaluating stock suitability
  • Perform standard chemical calculations and conversions
  • Compare analytical data against established data library(s) and product specification(s)
  • Input accurate analytical data into process management software (ERP software)
  • Maintain complete and accurate records consistent with quality guidelines
  • Train to safely handle, process, route and request stock suitability samples
  • Train new hires on relevant SOPs and operations in assigned work area(s)
  • Perform intermediate analytical troubleshooting with guidance
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance, restock laboratory supplies, and practice proper waste disposal in accordance to existing guidelines
  • Run performance verifications and calibrations in accordance to standard operating procedures
  • Assist with reagent and chemical management in the laboratory
  • Maintain a clean organized work environment
  • Identify opportunities for quality improvement in compliance with Quality Management System
  • Write and submit quality deviation record(s) for management review
  • Assist in the 3-year procedure review program: Create, update, and correct department SOPs
  • Participate in quality-related discussions during team meetings
  • Attend monthly safety trainings
  • Participate in process and quality improvement project(s) with management
  • Communicate with relevant management and departments to ensure customer focused excellence
  • Provide status updates on operations and bring any deviations to the attention of your supervisor
  • Work with and support internal department teams
  • Supply information to customers and site visitors based on trained experience and knowledge
  • Respond promptly to work emails or other departmental communication
  • Assist with answering minor technical and operations related questions internally and externally
  • Complete routine procedure and policy trainings through a Learning Management System
  • Process and route stock suitability data through a sample tracking system
  • Assist team members with work overflow
  • Utilize metric tracking system
  • Attend monthly department meetings

Who You Are:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related life science discipline with 2+ years of experience in a laboratory environment OR High School Diploma or GED Equivalent with 6+ years of experience in a laboratory environment
